Remedial Massage
Deep Tissue/Remedial Massage: 1 hour
A deep tissue massage is needed when you have
muscles that are particularly tense or knotted.
Perhaps you've had a heavy physical day at work
and overdone it. Or you may have sustained an
injury from a fall or be recovering from a limb or
joint operation. Or perhaps you have longer
standing pain or discomfort in a particular body
area.
Please note that deep tissue massage does not
mean pressing harder and giving you more pain -
yes it is a firmer massage and is designed to
release trigger points (muscle knots) but in a more
gentle way than you might imagine.
The intention is to cajole muscles to release their
tension rather than inflicting further pain or
damage. Particularly heavy massages can do more
harm than good with more severe muscle tension
returning within a couple of days.
A deep tissue massage will warm up and relax the
upper muscles so that the deeper muscles can be
worked on. A deep tissue massage will work on
particular areas of body as appropriate.
Deep tissue massage can also assist a number of
conditions such as:
•
Sciatica
•
Body posture and symmetry
•
Remediate muscle damage after trauma
•
Delaying muscle atrophy
•
Reducing muscle fibre adhesion
•
Improving scar tissue, fibrosis and cellulite
